2 Minute How To – Power Platform Dataflow

With every Power Platform release comes a range of new features and capabilities. Keeping on top of it is always a daunting task.

My fear has always been where do I start? How hard is it to get this new feature going?

To demystify all those new capabilities, I decided to start a new series with short videos to walkthrough how to use the new features. At the end of the day all it takes is for you to give it a stab. Once you get the basics going then you have broken the ice and the rest becomes easier.

What is Power Platform Dataflow

Power Platform Dataflow is a service that provides Extract Load & Transform (ETL) capabilities from a variety of sources to the Common Data Services (CDS) on a schedule or manually triggered.

Given its capabilities, I believe this is a strong contender that will replace the good old Excel import.

Prerequisites

In this video I extract data from an Excel spreadsheet into CDS. Here is the prerequisite:

  1. Load an Excel spreadsheet into OneDrive with data stored in a table called Names.
