Microsoft Business Applications Summit 2020

May 6, 2020 by Rami Mounla

Woke up at 3AM in New Zealand to watch #MSBizAppsSummit awesome keynote session.

James Philips and Alysa Taylor hosted the event with a strong message on how Microsoft helped thousands or organisations through quick digital transformation to response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Transformations programs that used to take years are now happing in weeks or even days.

All this is due to a great community with more than 2 million members and more than 700 User Groups. The Wellington Power Platform UG that I run is one of them 😉.

On top of that we have 600 ISVs providing almost 10’000 solutions for the Power Platform and Dynamics 365.

They then followed by recognising the Dynamics 365 Solution Architect as well as the all new Power Platform recognised Solution Architect program.

James then followed by talking about how nowadays businesses have changed from being reactive to proactive. With the now familiar digital feedback loop being at the center of this transformation.

The Power Platform provides world unique collection of assets together forming an unprecedented powerful system.

A couple of customer journeys (Chipotle and IKA) were discussed by Satish Thomas and Charles Lamanna on how they transformed their business with the Power Platform.

Satish Thomas talks about how Chipotle used Customer Insight, AI, Business Intelligence, and the Power Platform to enhance customer experience.

While Charles in particular talked about booking appointments with Power Virtual Agent integration with Dynamics 365, Mixed Reality, and how to bring digital online customer interaction to an in person interaction through the Power Apps.

The last 15 minutes of the keynote focused on working remotely with Teams presented by Jared Spataro and how security remains core to the platform with Microsoft’s CISO Bret Arsenault.

Finally Alysa concluded by explaining how the Microsoft stack is helping people responde to COVID-19 – together.

All in all, it was a great session that got me hungry for more and eager to understand what else is coming and what new announcements we will be hearing at MSBizAppsSummit.
